The attention of the Lord is what those who love Him seek to capture. They will do what they must to be the object of His affection and to express their love to Him. One thing the Lord’s attention is drawn to is the ways of man, that is how a man conducts himself and his affairs.Proverbs shows us the ways that are upright and beyond reproach are delightful to the Lord.He not only sees them, He receives pleasure from them. The upright in their ways express their live to God and pleasantly capture the attention of the Lord. The froward are different.
The froward heart is a heart that is perverse. This heart does not seek to please or love the Lord nor does it do what is right and fair.Instead it has corrupt offensive ways. The pleasure the froward heart receives or gives is found in itself. The person with the forward heart is the only person receiving any sort of satisfaction from what they do and in most cases the satisfaction they receive does not linger so they are left empty.Proverbs describes those who have a froward heart as being abominable to the Lord. They are offensive to the very nature of the Lord.
It is interesting to note that the froward heart is not abominable to the Lord.Instead it is those who have the froward heart. We at times tend to believe we are separable from our actions to the point were we feel disconnected from the associated responsibilities.I want to do this, I want to do that and think there are no consequences. Here the Lord is not necessarily offended by the action or condition of the heart. It is the person that controls the conditions and does the action that is an offense. The Lord looks right to the one who has the froward heart and is turned off.
We have an obligation, a mission, a mandate to ensure our instruments are kept in a way that pleases the Lord. This is our first and greatest calling.
