Call for Understanding Heart

Proverbs 8:1-5
Wisdom lifts up her voice and speaks. She positions herself in the places where her voice would be most outstanding. In lifting up her voice she speaks to men. She specifically wants the simple man and the foolish man to adopt understanding.

The simple means silly; that is one who is seducible. The simple is a man that can be attracted into a course of action that he knows is ill-advised and reckless. This man knows danger and would ordinarily stay away from it but he allows someone to direct him into recklessness. Wisdom speaks for this man to pay attention in order not to be directed by the seduction.

The fool is a stupid fellow. He is a dull person who lacks the intelligence and common sense. This man does not think clearly and he allows others to do the thinking for him. He does not absorb ideas so he is lead into beliefs that are not his. With someone else at his mental control this man is a danger to him self and will always be someone’s tool. Wisdom speaks for this man to have an understanding heart.

What is an understanding heart? It is a heart that discerns. It has the ability to mentally pick apart situations and absorb what is good or bad before the affects are felt. It can point out the differences that exist in what is similar.

There are a number of unique beneficial qualities in an understanding heart which include:
•empowerment with a skill to enquire. It knows what questions to ask, when to ask them and how to ask them. It is as though the heart was there when the situation was being planned and knows where all the loop holes are. It knows how to get to the source and the meat of the matter.
•ability to focus. It pays attention to the right and notices when wrong attempt to intervene. The ability to focus enables it to see behind the scenes.
•not restricted to age nor limited by experiences. The understanding heart relies upon the wisdom that transcends age restrictions and provides a way of escape out of every situation. The understanding heart has seen it all, been through it all and can deliver from it all. With an understanding heart the fools will be able to move beyond their folly.
